In the Long Silence, new monsters have shown their faces, from wasteland mutants to zealous fascists—no corner of the world is truly safe. Grab your team and get ready to fight your way through the shattered surface of Vian. Dark, but not hopeless: you will find your reason to keep going in this strange new world.
Era of Silence is built on a roll-low dice pool system called Thorne, designed to allow different characters to excel at the same task in different situations. Mixed with an interlocking Trait system, the game heavily emphasizes teamwork in a traditional RPG format.
A streamlined character creation process offers over 15,000+ possible character combinations but can be chosen from in a single sitting. Play a thief with a penchant for machines, a mage with a military background, a combat alchemist, and more! Then grab gear that utilizes a Template + Mod system. With just a few choices, a standard weapon turns into a trademark with its own twists and effects.
The core of the game is focused on combat. A Stamina focused action mechanic and a State system allow for tactical freedom in a way that's intuitive for both the Narrator and Protagonist Characters. An HPless damage mechanic creates an intense atmosphere where every shot feels lethal and keeps combats short.
The world of Vian is a chemipunk future fantasy setting written by R. Val and Moss Sugarmountains. The book features full-color art by Moss Sugarmountains and Willabee. With layout by F. Dan O'Neill.

Hey everyone!
Just a small update to let you all know what's going on behind the scenes.
Backer Kit Surveys
We've been getting the Backer Kit survey ready (the survey we'll use to fulfill your rewards). We've been taking a little extra time to make sure it minimizes the need for followup questions, as well as letting you get some add ons you may have missed during the funding period.
Art
As well, we just handed off final art list to Moss Sugarmountains. We'll release a couple more promotional images as they produce them, but we're also going to save some for the book!
Design
I've been taking some time with the text personally, touching up the book and updating sections where lore has changed up a bit since the inception of the game. Don't expect any substantial mechanical changes, but clarifications and rebalances will likely be featured in the new game.

Finally, just a reminder that playtest ends 1/16/2022. You can grab your copy of the playtest document to leave feedback here: Playtest Download (Free for Backers). We're hoping to send out the Backer Kit surveys that same day, and keep the survey period open through the end of February.

Playtest Rulebook and Fulfillment Plan

Happy Holidays! I hope this message finds you comfortable and safe.
Playtest Copy
We've been taking a week off to enjoy time with our families for the holidays. However, we wanted to make sure you all had access to Era of Silence's playtest copy. You can claim a free playtest copy for being a backer at the link below:
Note that this rulebook does not have any layout done and is by no means the final product. Rather, we would love for you to give it a read and give any feedback on the rules themselves that you think might be relevant! We take our feedback here:

Our Roadmap
So our short term goal is by the 16th of January we want to have our final draft done for Dan to do layout. On that same day we'll also send out the initial BackerKit surveys for you to pick out your rewards. On the 16th of February, we will start using that to fulfill orders. Our goal is to have everything done and shipped out for physical backers in July 2022, though we're hoping to have digital rewards out by June of 2022. We'll outline these steps in more detail as we get into it.

We did it!
Thanks to your generosity, Era of Silence went above and beyond our initial goal. We even cleared a Stretch Goal! You've made our little team's big project possible.
So what now?
Now, the Shrike Tabletop team takes a few days to rest and enjoy the holidays. Then we begin the process of fulfillment. Our first goal is a final draft of the book's text by Jan 16th. We'll post a link to it then.
We'll have a reward survey fairly soon. This is when we'll get your shipping and such. We need to figure out a couple logistics things there.
Also! Moss Sugarmountains' original story will be included in any Stretch Goal tiers.
